Vanden High baseball team finally loses first game – The Vacaville Reporter
The Vanden High School baseball team lost an 11-6 decision to Armijo on Tuesday as the Vikings lost their first game overall and in the Monticello Empire League.
The Royals (5-9, 2-6) led 8-4 after three innings and then iced the victory with a three-run sixth over Vanden (13-1, 7-1).
Devin Paras and Jake Tranchina were both 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Darryl Dilworth Jr. was 2 for 4 for the Vikings. Jason Olsen was 2-2 and Erick Diez hit in two runs. Paras and Diez both had triples. Jack Brooks scored a brace.
Bryan Rivera had three hits and five RBIs for Armijo. Justin Lundberg was the winning pitcher.
Vaca 6, Vanden 3
The Vacaville High School men’s tennis team beat Vanden 6-3 on Tuesday in a tight MEL match.
The Bulldogs swept the doubles to help win the game. Christian Johnson/Owen Gutierrez teams; Trenton Hill./Josh Swanson and Rourke Sherry/Ezra Riojas were victorious.
In singles, Vanden (2-3) picked up wins over Ethan Blunt, James Remiticado and CJ Hongo. Vaca’s Jacob Hobbs, Samuel Arevalo and Caden Krause picked up wins.
Vanden 233, Rodriguez 240
The Vanden High Boys golf team earned a 233-240 victory over Rodriguez in the MEL game.
The medalist for the day was Easton Hether of the Mustangs (2-2) with a 36.
Jerah Venkaiya fired a 39 to lead the Vikings (4-1), who took sole possession of second place. Heath Bradford shot a 42, Rohan Kamath a 43, Elijay Jimenez a 53 and Nolin McClaskey a 56.
Rodriguez 8, Vacaville 7
The Vacaville High badminton team lost to Rodriguez 8-7 on Tuesday in MEL action.
In singles play, the Bulldogs got wins from Hadel Marini, Morgan Sweeney and Hannah Roderick. Marini combined with Maya Wright for a doubles win. Sweeney combined with Emily Pehl for a doubles victory.
Still in doubles, the team of Kait Roser and Vicky Li won, as did the team of Alisa Grandi and Jilly Ferreira for the Bulldogs (6-6, 5-4).
The Mustangs won 5-4 in the junior college game.
Napa Valley 6, Solano 5
The Napa Valley College baseball team defeated Solano 6-5 on Tuesday in the first of a three-game Bay Valley Conference series.
Caleb Jeske homered 3-for-4 for the Storm (14-12, 6-4), who scored five times in the sixth. Wyatt Dorman got the win and Dylan Rody made the save.
Zion Judkins and Eli De Guzman both went 2 for 4 for Solano. Jimmy Larson, Jaxson Bates, Austin Menesini and Judkins all had one-twos. Judkins also scored a hat-trick.
Richard Measley took the loss. He went six innings, allowing eight hits and six runs, only four of which were earned. He stoked four. Josh Petrill pitched well in relief allowing three hits and no runs in two innings.
Solano 5, Buttress 2
The Solano College men’s tennis team defeated Foothill 5-2 Tuesday in the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
The contest was a rematch from earlier this season with the Falcons winning 7-2.
Solano won again and improved to 13-1 on aggregate. The Falcons were 8-0 in the league this season.
The Falcons travel to American River College next Tuesday for a 1 p.m. game in the NorCal Semifinals.
