The child was last seen between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday on the playground of a closed apartment complex. Police said Lina was in the playground with her mother, who had briefly walked away. The child was missing when his mother returned, McManus said.
The family moved to the United States in 2019 from Afghanistan after fleeing “threats to us,” said Lina’s father, Riaz Sardar Khil. San Antonio TV Channel KENS.
The child’s father told the TV station that the family initially believed Lina may have left the playground with another Afghan family, but now believe she may have been kidnapped.
“In our entire life, we have not been as saddened as yesterday and today,” Khil told the TV station on Tuesday, speaking through an interpreter.
Lina was last seen wearing a red dress, black jacket and black shoes and had her brown hair in a ponytail, police said.
