It’s time to review your etiquette.

But rather than get lost in the weeds of all the things you should do, why not start by highlighting the things you should not do? For that, we turned to members of our How To Hit Every Shot Facebook group (which you can register for free here) and asked them about the rudest, most annoying things golfers do on the course. They didn’t hold back.

1. “Drive the cart ahead of the group”

I get why people would hate that, especially if the cart is in an area where you might have to worry about bumping into it. You don’t save a lot of time either. More often than not, you slow things down while being rude.

2. “Take calls on the course”

If you’re going to do this, ask ahead, pick up your ball, and excuse yourself to go to a distant location. This may sound like overkill, but remember most people play golf to get away from their phone. Be aware of this.

3. “Ordering way too many drinks”

We all want to have fun, but beware of getting rude, especially around a fancy club.

4. “Go crazy over their game”

I get this one. Don’t take yourself too seriously. It’s just a game, have fun with it.

5. “Standing above the ball too long”

Standing over the ball doesn’t even help you. Give yourself about five seconds and go.

6. “Talk too much”

File this one under basic social skills. Don’t talk about yourself all the time, ask questions, and occasionally give others space.

7. “Drove their cart too close to your ball”

As far as I’m concerned, each balloon is surrounded by a no-cart zone of at least 10 meters. Never enter it.

8. ‘Unsolicited swing tips’

If you’re going to do it, do it well.

9. “Write the score in the basket, not on the next start”

Sounds like small potatoes to me, but I guess I get it. The goal is to completely clear the green so that others can hit.

10. “Too many practice swings”

You really don’t need more than one or two anyway. Just hit the ball.

11. “Cheating”

This one came back a lot, and for good reason. Again, it’s a game: what’s the point of playing if you’re going to cheat?

12. “Get viewers to watch”

Specifically, family members, the commenter said. I think it’s only a problem if you don’t ask your playmates first if they’re okay with it. Remember that a round of golf is a shared activity.

13. ‘Walk in your line’

This is without a doubt my biggest pet peeve. I’m really annoyed about it. Don’t step in my line – it’s super inconsiderate.

14. “Complaining after every bad shot”

Like your fantasy football team, we don’t really care.

15. ‘Stand behind you off the tee’

Stay out of people’s peripheral vision, especially if you’re restless.

16. ‘Knows your score on bad holes’

Don’t be an accountant there, especially after someone clearly just had a bad hole. They don’t need to be reminded.

17. “Don’t show up and have the courtesy to inform yourself”

Do people really do that? If you’re going to give up, at least have the courtesy to let them know you’re giving up.

18. “Complaining after good shots”

Whoever you are, you’re not good enough to do this. Trust us.

19. ‘Trolling for golf balls’

Do it at your own pace.

20. ‘Play music on the course’

Personally, I’m not a music listener on the course, but if anyone does, I’m not going to stop them. Remember: it’s a little rude not to ask your playmates first.

21. “Joke when it’s my turn”

This is essentially the #1 rule of golf etiquette.

22. “Hit My Ball”

I have a friend who is one of the nicest guys you can meet who turns into a scary monster when someone hits his ball. So many golfers really hate it when you do this, and for good reason, so take a few extra seconds and check out the ball you’re about to hit.

23. “Not ready to leave when it’s their turn”

Don’t procrastinate. When it’s your turn to leave, get moving.

24. ‘Give Up’

A colleague and I played a match once with someone who left the course after the 10th hole. It was quite awkward, but also quite satisfying, if I’m being totally honest.

25. “Comment on my photos”

Calm down, Johnny. Focus on your own ball.

26. “Take honors on the tee box”

Unless playing golf ready has been clearly established, if you have honors, you have earned them. You should be able to enjoy it.

27. “Standing in Your Line of Sight”

A few steps to the side make all the difference.

28. “Congratulating someone for making a putt before they do”

Specifically, if the ball ends up missing. Wait a few extra seconds and save yourself an awkward situation.

29. “Don’t let the next band play”

There’s actually no advantage in not letting faster groups play. Do it.

30. “Owling Putts Too Long”

You’re not playing the Masters – and that probably doesn’t help much anyway.

31. “Talking to My Golf Ball”

Don’t talk to MY golf ball.

32. “Making Apologies”

Again, no one particularly cares. It’s just a game, have fun.

33. “Spitting sunflower seeds on the putting green”

A weirdly specific one, but I can see how super boring it would be, especially for supers.

34. “Not Fixing Bullet Marks”

Someone has worked hard on this green. Don’t disrespect him like that.

35. “Take a divot on the green”

It’s golf’s ultimate deadly sin, and definitely not OK. You should be banned for this.

Fiji’s football team will play two international friendlies against Malaysia next month.

This was confirmed by the managing director of the Fiji Football Association, Mohammed Yusuf.

He said it was extremely important for the Bula Boys to play international matches against quality opponents ahead of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) World Cup qualifiers at the end of next March.

“The Malaysian national football team is ready to come to Fiji and play two matches,” said Yusuf.

“We believe the friendly matches the national team play will give them a better understanding of what to do in different situations.

“The two friendlies should be very useful for the players to understand the individual tasks and roles of each footballer selected to represent the nation.

“It will also show them how to cooperate and work together as a team, both in attack and defense.

“The friendly matches will give players a better understanding of each other’s roles on the national team as we prepare for the important tournament in Qatar.

“The fact that we are playing against a team higher ranked than us in the FIFA rankings will give us a good reading of our current position.”

Yusuf said the matches will take place in Suva.

“Friendly matches will be played at the ANZ stadium. We try to get one game in the afternoon and the other in the evening. “I hope things will work out.”

Malaysia is ranked 154th in the FIFA rankings while Fiji is ranked 161st in the world.

The Washington soccer team’s winning streak ended at four games as they couldn’t get over a slow start against the Dallas Cowboys.

The talent gap between Washington and Dallas was obvious. Luckily for the soccer team, however, they’ll have the chance to avenge that loss to a Philadelphia Eagles team that falls straight into their weight class.

Both teams are at 6-7, but Washington currently holds the Internal Division and Internal Conference tiebreakers against their rivals. With a win, the WFT would create a comfortable distance between themselves and Philly. With a loss, you’re talking about an even tighter race going into the last three games.

Let’s see what Vegas thinks about Washington’s chances of coming out of Lincoln Financial Field with a W this Sunday.

Washington vs Eagles odds for week 15

According to our friends at WynnBET, Washington starts off as the favorite on the road with 4.5 points against Philadelphia. They have odds of -110 to cover that line (bet $ 110 to win $ 100). If you prefer to bet straight on Washington, you can get them at +170 on the money line, so bet $ 100 to win $ 170. Sunday’s over / under is set at 43.5 points, with both sides registering odds of -110.

Washington vs Eagles prediction for week 15

It’s hard to make a prediction without knowing the status of Taylor Heinicke, Terry McLaurin, JD McKissic and Charles Leno, but we’ll do our best.

In a vacuum, this game will be won in the trenches After all, the Eagles’ offense depends heavily on their rushing offense, which is the NFL’s first at 160 yards per game. Conversely, Washington is solid against the run and just bottled Ezekiel Elliot for 45 yards last Sunday.

For the season, they posted the fifth best D run in the league.

It’s obviously easier said than done, but if Washington can limit Philly’s possession time and force Jalen Hurts to win the game in the air, it should bode very well for Ron Rivera’s squad.

The start of the match will be decisive. If Antonio Gibson finds a rhythm, it will take the pressure off Taylor Heinicke and the whole offense will kick in.

We love that Washington builds on the momentum they generated in the fourth quarter against Dallas and clinches a HUGE road win over the Eagles.

Washington 28, Eagles 21.

Week 12 of the 2021 NFL season has already been pretty crazy. We have one more game to play this week, as the Seattle Seahawks host the Washington football team on “Monday Night Football”.

The Seahawks have struggled extensively since Russell Wilson returned from injury, and this could be their last chance to turn the season around. The football team, meanwhile, are coming off two straight wins over potential playoff contenders and have a chance to extend their winning streak to three games.

So will the Seahawks get back on track, or will Washington continue the good times? We will find out soon enough. But first, let’s break down the game.

How to watch

When the Seahawks have the ball

In two games since returning from the first injury-related absence of his NFL career, Russell Wilson has looked nothing like himself. He completed just 34 of 66 passes (51.5%) for 368 yards (5.6 per attempt), zero touchdowns, two interceptions and a terrible passer rating of 55.6. He also took seven sacks and fumbled twice, although the Seahawks recovered both of those fumbles.

Luckily for Seattle, the team’s next opponent is the one who has been the elixir of almost every passing game. The football team entered Week 12 at 31st in the opponent’s passer rating, 29th in the EPA cleared by recoil, 30th in the Football Outsiders DVOA pass defense. The strength of the unit is in the top four who are able to put pressure on the quarterback with some regularity – but with Chase Young and Montez Sweat both coming out, it will be much more difficult.

It puts a ton of pressure on the Washington full-back, who has fallen short this season. The football team ranks last in DVOA against deep passes, according to Football Outsiders, and that’s Wilson’s bread and butter. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett should be able to find themselves free on the pitch, and Wilson should be able to hit them if he has enough time.

The only thing stopping the Seahawks from doing that is the possibility of Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne crushing the pocket in the middle. Because of her size, Wilson is more vulnerable to internal pressure than when it comes from the edges. He can’t always see intermediate throws in midfield when the pocket is pushed back to his knees. Instead, he must escape, buy some time, and attempt a harder throw. He’s good at those throws – usually. But it is not complete at the moment.

Knowing Pete Carroll, he’ll want to come up with a game plan to establish the run, even against arguably the NFL’s worst pass defense. But Seattle doesn’t have the offensive line talent to dominate the game that way, and neither Alex Collins nor DeeJay Dallas are the kind of runner who can take control of a game like Carroll envisions. Dallas is more of a threat in the passing game and therefore should be used more here.

When the football team has the ball

In back-to-back wins over enemies NFC South, the football team reverted to a racing-centric game plan with Antonio Gibson at the center of the action. Gibson had seen his fracture rate drop before the team’s leave while suffering from a stress fracture in his shin, but he appears to be back at full strength. He’s got 43 rock sacks in the last two games, and Washington seems comfortable letting him gain yards and then allowing Taylor Heinicke to work on field action passes out of running play.

However, this game does not lend itself particularly well to this style of game plan. The Seahawks are very respectable ninth in the defense against the DVOA race this season, as they are 25th against the pass. They don’t come under much pressure from opposing quarterbacks and they have a few glaring weaknesses when it comes to coverage.

If Washington can do it, isolating Jamal Adams in space on one of the tight ends is healthy enough to adjust (Logan Thomas could be back!) Should be a constant source of distance. Terry McLaurin can beat just about any cornerback you put in front of him, and he can do it at any stage of a course. There is no corner Washington should avoid in this game, so the team should look for McLaurin early and often. Attacking the perimeter should help loosen things up for Gibson on the inside.

Seattle’s zonal defense has been more vulnerable to short passes than deep passes so far this year, so it could be a good week to get Gibson and / or JD McKissic involved in the passing game as well. McKissic has only five targets since the team returned from leave, but he racked up 33 catches for 332 yards in Weeks 2-8, functioning as a solid dump valve out of the backfield for Heinicke.

Latest odds:

Washington PK Football Team

Prediction: Seahawks 23, football team 20

It’s week 11 of the 2021 NFL season, and injuries are again a factor in several key games this coming weekend. Quarterbacks are once again the biggest story of the weekend, although injuries to several top running backs promise to shake up the rosters as well.

As teams hand in their final injury reports for the week, make this your hub for who’s in, who’s out, and whose status may still be in place before kick-off. Below you’ll find all the injury reports and the analysis of what it all means for week 11.

The Texans could be deprived of a few players in defense, as Nickerson has been ruled out with a concussion and Greenard is questionable with a foot injury. LeBlanc appeared on the injury report Friday with illness. It is also questionable.

The Titans will be without several starters on Sunday, including Davis, Dupree, Long, Evans and Mabin. While the cornerback position is already a question mark, it doesn’t help that starter Jenkins is questionable adjusting to a chest injury that emerged mid-week.

The Colts generally have a very busy injury report, but only one name has come up this week. Unfortunately, that was a pretty big name, as Leonard is questionable playing with ankle and hand injuries. He didn’t train on Wednesday, but was limited Thursday and Friday.

Edmunds had a limited session on Friday after not training at all on Wednesday or Thursday. He’s headed in the right direction, but his status could probably be described as being in the air. He’s a very important piece in the Buffalo defense, especially in the Bills’ efforts to slow Jonathan Taylor down.

It looks like Mitchell will be a decision during the game, as GM John Lynch said, and it doesn’t help that Hasty isn’t active either. With Mitchell’s potential absence, recently returned veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. is likely to lead the backfield in early downs, while fullback Kyle Juszczyk would likely be the replacement. Read more of our story on Mitchell, here.

Robinson said on Friday he was feeling pretty good, which would appear to give him a good chance to prepare against San Francisco. If he’s absent or limited, he would likely be replaced in the roster by Carlos Hyde.

  • Ravens: DT Brandon Williams (shoulder), LB Pernell McPhee (knee), WR Miles Boykin (finger) OUT; WR Marquise Brown (thigh), OL Patrick Mekari (ankle), RB Latavius Murray (ankle), CB Jimmy Smith (hip), CB Tavon Young (foot), CB Anthony Averett (thigh), WR Devin Duvernay (knee) , OT Cedric Ogbuehi (thigh), LB Kristian Welch (foot) QUESTIONABLE
  • Bear: DL Akiem Hicks (ankle) OUT; WR Allen Robinson (hamstring) DOUBT; S Eddie Jackson (hamstring), OL Elijah Wilkinson (back) QUESTIONABLE

The Ravens are stoned and have plenty of questionable notable players to play this Sunday. There is good news, however, as Lamar Jackson returned as a full participant in training after battling an illness this week, and he had no injury designation.

The Bears placed Khalil Mack and Danny Trevathan on the injured list, while also elevating Cassius Marsh to the active list and signing Bruce Irvin. They are potentially going to be quite unbalanced on both sides of the ball.

The headline of the Lions final injury report is that starting quarterback Jared Goff is questionable with an oblique injury. He hasn’t trained at all this week, making it look like Tim Boyle will be leaving for Detroit. The quarterback may not have left tackle Taylor Decker, who is questionable with an elbow injury.

Cleveland has activated both Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton from the reserve / COVID-19 list. They are expected to play in this game. Baker Mayfield did not train on Wednesday, was restricted on Thursday and returned as a full participant on Friday. He has no injury designation. Their top wide receivers are a bit affected, however, as Jarvis Landry has been limited all week with a knee injury and Peoples-Jones is questionable playing with a groin injury.

The Saints were hoping to get Kamara back this week, but it looks like he’s had a bit of a backlash. After being a limited participant in training on Wednesday, Kamara has not been training for the whole week and he was sent off. The Saints’ problems don’t end there, as they will also be deprived of their starting offensive tackles at Armstead and Ramczyk.

Philly’s injury report isn’t too worrying, but Barnett appeared on the report on Friday with a neck injury and it’s questionable to play. While Taylor is also questionable, he was a full participant in training on Friday.

The Dolphins’ aggressive and cheerful defense earned them their game against the Ravens last week. Van Ginkel and Wilkins are each important pieces on the defensive front.

For some reason, Joe Flacco should take the start in place of Wilson, rather than Mike White. Vera-Tucker has been a valuable player inside the Jets’ offensive line, and it would be damaging if he had to sit down.

Washington Football Team vs. Carolina Panthers (-3.5)

Seals-Jones hasn’t been training all week, so his absence is expected. Logan Thomas remains on the injured list, so the football team will be reduced to its tight third string end. Samuel has been on and off the injury report all season and has only played 30 combined snaps in his only two appearances this year. St-Juste is virtually full on Friday, leaving him more likely to play than Fuller, who was limited Thursday and Friday.

The Panthers are relatively healthy for Cam Newton’s return to Carolina. Thomas-Oliver is the only player with an injury designation.

Jones will be replaced in the lineup by replacement AJ Dillon, and Patrick Taylor will likely have work to spell it out. Bakhtiari needs to be activated before next week’s game as his three-week window will be over. If Lazard is out (and he hasn’t trained all week), Randall Cobb and Marquez Valdes-Scantling should play a bigger role in the offense. Gary’s absence would be huge for the Packers, who remain without their top passer, Za’Darius Smith.

The underachieving Minnesota secondary could surely use Breeland against Davante Adams.

The Bengals are relatively healthy for this crucial AFC game. As for the Raiders, running back Josh Jacobs has been limited all week with a knee injury, but did not have an injury designation. Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has been listed as suffering from a back injury, but he has been a full participant all week.

  • Cardinals: DeAndre Hopkins (hamstrings), OL Justin Pugh (calf), LB Tanner Vallejo (knee), RB Jonathan Ward (concussion) OUT; QB Kyler Murray (ankle), DT Corey Peters (shoulder), S James Wiggins (knee), S Budda Baker (heel), OL Max Garcia (Achille), QB Colt McCoy (pectoral) QUESTIONNABLE
  • Seahawks: S Jamal Adams (groin), CB DJ Reed (groin), LB Cody Barton (quadriceps), OT Jamarco Jones (back), DE Kerry Hyder (calf) QUESTIONABLE

Hopkins will miss his third straight game with a hamstring injury. Murray is supposed to be closer to entering the pitch than he has been in the past two weeks, but coach Kliff Kingsbury has said the quarterback will again be a decision to be made during the game . With Arizona’s exemption in Week 12, the Cardinals could choose to play things conservatively here against a Seahawks team that was in a bad mood a week ago against the Packers. Interestingly, Murray’s replacement McCoy is questionable playing with a chest injury, despite being a full participant in training on Friday.

Adams is one of the stars of the Seahawks and he injured his groin this week. He was limited on Thursday and was absent on Friday. Adams is not the only defenseman likely to be missing on Sunday, as Reed, Barton and Hyder are also on the fence.

For the Cowboys, Smith’s status for Sunday will be something to watch, but the real story is that star catcher Amari Cooper is ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19. According to ESPN, Cooper is unvaccinated, which means he will have to enter a 10-day quarantine and miss the team’s next two games. Learn more about this development, here.

The Chiefs are sort of healthy for this important game, but they certainly need Sneed, who has been involved in training on a limited basis all week.

The Steelers defense will be missing a few key pieces as Haden and Watt were left out on Friday. Pittsburgh also won’t have Minkah Fitzpatrick, as he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Chargers didn’t rule anyone out on Friday, but Gilman, Joseph and Webb were called questionable. All three did not train on Friday.

Upcoming injury reports.

The Washington football team had their most complete performance of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday.

Funny what can happen when the three phases of the field come together, right? It’s almost like it’s the key to winning games in the NFL. Of course, your offense can make up for a poor defensive performance and vice versa, but Washington doesn’t have the skill on either side of the ball to count on that.

Despite being a huge win, Ron Rivera will have to rally the locker room for the next game against Carolina, his former team.

The last thing Washington needs is an emotional disappointment after its best win since perhaps in San Francisco or Pittsburgh last year.

With that in mind, let’s see what Washington’s chances of securing its second straight victory say.

Washington vs Panthers odds for week 11

According to our friends at WynnBET, Washington is opening its doors as a three-point outsider in Carolina. They have odds of -110 to cover the spread (bet $ 110 to win $ 100). If you prefer better odds, Ron Rivera’s group is a tidy +145 to win straight on the money line (bet $ 100 to win $ 145). The over / under for Sunday’s game is set at 43.5 points, with both teams registering an odds of -110.

Washington vs Panthers prediction for week 11

Dude, this one is tough. If this game had taken place two weeks ago and Sam Darnold was still the Panthers quarterback, we would take Washington with a lot of confidence. With Christian McCaffrrey and Cam Newton igniting the offense, the football team will have their work cut out for them to come out of Carolina with a victory.

It might sound obvious, but Washington can beat any NFL team if they play like they did last weekend.

For as much of the bluster Newton brings to the Panthers, he’s a very limited passer at this point in his career. Last year with the Patriots, he totaled an 82.9 passer rating, which placed 28th, and 177.1 yards per game, which placed 34th.

As long as Washington is tough on the run and limits McCaffrey’s impact as an off-backfield wide receiver, who will be on the coaching staff, Rivera will secure a victory over his former team.

Washington 24, Panthers 17.

The Washington football team failed to leave the schneid on Sunday.

They are now on a three-game losing streak, their longest slippage since the start of last season when they lost five straight games in Weeks 2-6.

The good news for Washington, which has been rare in 2021, is that they will have a great chance to stop the bleeding in Week 8 when they travel west to face a Broncos team that has lost four games in a row after a 3- 0 start.

Washington shouldn’t take Denver lightly. This game just presents a MUCH easier competition compared to the last three weeks.

Will the football team take advantage of this opportunity? Or will they downplay their competition and suffer another listless loss? Let’s see what Vegas has to say about their chances of winning.

Washington vs Broncos Week 8 odds

According to our friends at WynnBET, Washington is opening its doors as an underdog of the 3.5-point road. They have odds of -120 to cover the spread (bet $ 120 to win $ 100). If you want to bet on Washington to win, they have odds of +145 on the money line (bet $ 100 to win $ 145). Considering the value, this bet definitely piques our interest.

The over / under for Sunday’s game is set at 43.5 points, which is not surprising given how difficult these offenses are to score points. You can get both the plus and minus at -110, so bet $ 110 to win $ 100.

Washington vs Broncos Prediction Week 8

We seriously hope Ron Rivera emphasizes the importance of this game, as Tom Brady and the 6-1 Buccaneers are next on the schedule.

Believe it or not, we actually think Washington wins on Sunday. Teddy Bridgewater is far from healthy. Since returning from injury, the Broncos star has registered five touchdowns and four interceptions. Look for Washington’s defense, which arguably comes from its best game of the year, to force a turnover or two.

However, the game will have to be won by the offensive Washington, who failed to score in each of their four trips to the red zone in Week 7.

The Browns slashed the Broncos for 182 rushing yards last Thursday, so it could be Antonio Gibson’s breakout game. Gibson, who suffers from a stress fracture in his shin, has averaged just 53 rushing yards per game since Week 1.

Expect Washington to set the tone on the pitch and Taylor Heinicke to pitch for a pair of touchdowns en route to a 24-14 victory.

NIXA, Mo. (KY3) – Friday Night Football. In Nixa, it’s easy to see the hard work of the football team to win another game.

But if you look closely enough, you might see the dedicated, determined and diligent work on the sidelines of team leaders like Nate Cummings.

“We couldn’t be more proud of him,” said Nate’s father, Kevin Cummings. “He surprises us every day.

But the first day was anything but amazing for Nate who was abandoned at birth at Mercy Hospital. As fate intended, this bouncy little boy caught the attention of a NIC-U nurse.

“The birth mother did not have antenatal care,” said Nate’s mother Lynette. “He was born in the ambulance. I’m just looking at this skinny little four-pound-one ounce baby that needed to grow in his nose. And I look at him and I’m like, just thinking, I feel like he needs us.

Lynette and Kevin were then thinking of becoming foster parents. They knew they had more love to give.

“Kevin and I had lost our own son prematurely seven years ago,” said Lynette. “There has always been this hole. And then I think to myself, maybe we need him as much as he needs us.

Lynette has applied for adoption for the first time. She left out the part about being a nurse in the N-ICU; she didn’t want it to become a factor.

“I’m just talking (at the hospital) about our family,” Lynette said, “and our daughters, they were 14 and nine at the time. And she chose our letter.

The family of four was now five. But over the months, these parents have seen their son miss milestones. At 18 months, they learned why.

“We had her diagnosis of fetal alcohol syndrome,” said Lynette, “and it was a shock.”

“They said 80% probably wouldn’t leave the house,” Kevin said. “You know, they’ll be in jail. It was just a blow. But we decided to focus on that 20% and say, you know, he can be whatever he wants to be.

The Cummings flooded Nate with love, therapy, and classes. They even uprooted their families.

“We specifically moved here for the Nixa special education program,” Lynette said.

Over the years, Nate has been diagnosed with autism, diagnosed with anxiety, and diagnosed with ADHD, all due to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

“It’s permanent brain damage when you have fetal alcohol syndrome,” Lynette said, “so you won’t grow back.”

“To all the pregnant women out there,” Kevin said, “please don’t drink. Please don’t do drugs. We are very lucky with Nate. But there might be others who might not be so lucky, but (fetal alcohol syndrome) is something that is preventable.

Focused on his future, Nate made huge strides at Nixa, but the boy in love with John Deere needed one more thing – just to be one of the boys.

“(When Nate was) in college, I was like ‘how do we get this kid out more with his peers,” Lynette said. “And I thought, ‘Basketball! ” He likes sports.

It started with the management of basketball, then came football and finally baseball.

“Even though we suffered a loss or were down in the game,” said Nixa baseball player Sam Russo, “he was always there to cheer us up, no matter what.”

“When I got replaced by the game,” said Jackson Bell, Nixa’s basketball and baseball player, “Nate always had water, a towel and a punch.”

“It’s great for her self-esteem and great for her self-confidence,” said Lynette.

Nate is a three sports student coach for the Nixa Eagles. He never misses a practice or a game from August to June.

“It’s a blessing,” said Jaret Nelson, Nixa’s baseball and basketball player. “Because sometimes when you’re playing and you’re in the thick of it, it’s often negative. And you see Nate and that makes things so much better.

We have this 16 year old who has a girlfriend and he’s nice to the players, ”said Lynette. “An extraordinary young man who exceeded our expectations. “

How SMU is the living embodiment of parity defined this college football season https://greenwoodacrescampground.net/how-smu-is-the-living-embodiment-of-parity-defined-this-college-football-season/ https://greenwoodacrescampground.net/how-smu-is-the-living-embodiment-of-parity-defined-this-college-football-season/#respond Tue, 19 Oct 2021 23:38:51 +0000 https://greenwoodacrescampground.net/how-smu-is-the-living-embodiment-of-parity-defined-this-college-football-season/ UNIVERSITY PARK – Ahead of the start of the season, as the wheels of the realignment were just starting to spin, SMU athletic director Rick Hart was invited by The morning news from Dallas if a team outside of the Power Five conferences could legitimately claim one of the four college football playoff spots. “That’s […]]]>

UNIVERSITY PARK – Ahead of the start of the season, as the wheels of the realignment were just starting to spin, SMU athletic director Rick Hart was invited by The morning news from Dallas if a team outside of the Power Five conferences could legitimately claim one of the four college football playoff spots.

“That’s a good question, and I’ll answer it this way: it doesn’t feel like it is,” Hart said in late July, “because we’ve had, year after year, programs that have really done just about everything you would expect them to demonstrate that they deserve consideration for a place and a top four ranking.

He pointed to UCF, which went undefeated in 2018 and declared themselves national champions, and Cincinnati, which was the No.7 team in the initial CFP rankings a year ago, but fell to No 9 despite his unbeaten also.

“Football is the only sport where a small percentage of institutions and conferences really have access to the championship,” Hart said in July. “You know, it’s a problem.”

Speaking of percentages, Cincinnati – the top contender in the Group of 5 heading into this season – only had a 3% chance of qualifying for the playoffs, according to the ESPN playoff spotlight. In translation: for the Bearcats, or any team in the Group of 5, to even count, chaos would have to happen.

Seven weeks later, college football delivered just that. So far, 47 ranked teams have lost. Seven ranked teams lost last week, including five to unranked teams, including Iowa’s No.2 24-7 loss to Purdue.

Cincinnati, a preseason longshot to make the CFP, is now the nation’s No.2 team, according to the latest AP Top 25 ranking. The American Athletic Conference, with undefeated SMU at No.21, has two ranked teams. , while the Pac-12 only has one, the Oregon # 10.

In short: 2021 has been a college football season defined by its parity, and the results – with upheaval galore and the feeling that any team, really, has a hit week after week – speak for themselves.

“It’s really tough… to win,” said SMU head coach Sonny Dykes after SMU beat South Florida 41-17 on Oct. 2, despite the fact that it was from a game to a possession in the third quarter. “There is a lot of parity. Everyone is playing hard, each team is well trained. There is just a smaller margin of error now than there has ever been in college football. “

So what is the reasoning for this? At the consensus level, it is difficult to pinpoint an exact cause, but there are factors that inevitably affect the constants of college football.

The NCAA introduced the transfer portal in 2018. In April, the NCAA then created a universal policy allowing athletes to transfer once without having to be absent for a year, which was previously the penalty for the transfer.

From a player’s point of view, there is now always the possibility of having one more chance of finding a suitable school and program. From a school perspective, teams – especially good ones – are losing pieces and development prospects that would normally provide much more depth.

Southeastern Conference teams, the crème de la crème of fame in college football, have seen 362 players leave the transfer portal since 2019, according to data from 247Sports transfer portal tracker, more than 200 more than what they added. Those same teams also had a total of 128 players selected in the last two NFL Drafts, including top-notch players who left college early.

On the other hand, other teams have been the benefactors of talented players looking for other opportunities elsewhere. SMU added 13 transfers in the last recruiting round and only lost eight. That includes former Oklahoma quarterback Tanner Mordecai, who went from a replacement for the Sooners to the nation’s leading touchdown passer this year for the Mustangs. Cincinnati running back Jerome Ford recorded 31 combined runs in his first two seasons in Alabama, but is now second in the nation in rushing touchdowns with 12 for the Bearcats.

“There are teams in our league in particular – well, not us – our league was able to benefit from that,” said Navy head coach Ken Niumtalolo, noting that his school, a service academy, only lost players against the portal, not won.

“Maybe another team has a lot of depth, but guys, who are second and third strings in an SEC school and he’s not happy, or a Power 5 school, these guys can go to other places – really any school – so maybe it’s kind of watered down, or somehow leveled the playing field.

SMU, along with other schools, also benefited from having super seniors on the roster. Due to COVID-19, the NCAA has allowed players to enjoy a free year of eligibility, which could create a headache for the roster in the future, but added for even more depth and depth. talent for rosters this year. SMU linebacker Richard Moore, for example, is in his seventh year. Mustangs offensive lineman Hayden Howerton, also a super senior, will make his 48th career start Thursday against Tulane.

“This year in particular could be a special year for the Mustangs as they sort of hit that sweet spot,” said ESPN analyst Dusty Dvoracek, who was on the show for SMU’s 42-34 win. against TCU. “They really used the transfer portal, they have a veteran team and they really took advantage of [having super seniors]. They have a veteran football team that is very mature, and I think it will be a fun team to watch play in the United States.

These unique factors go hand in hand with the normal factors of change in college football. Another ESPN analyst Tom Luginbill pointed to the quarterback’s turnover in Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame – constant CFP contenders – as a potential reason they also lost. until now. He also said that offensive online play at some schools was not great and that turnovers can always be costly.

“So I think those two areas stand out a bit for me, but I have to be honest with you: we may be living in one of those roaring twenties,” Luginbill said last week, “where talent is somewhat equitable in the match you have from week to week, if you don’t bring your ‘A’ match, you’re going to fall.

“I mean, you look at Iowa for example. Everyone’s talking about Iowa, Iowa, Iowa, but has anyone watched them on the offensive? It’s amazing… I pull the layers off and I’m like, “Damn, if this team doesn’t create 20 turnovers, they could be a .500 team. “

Luginbill was on the show for Iowa No.2 vs. Purdue unranked last Saturday, which is why he was watching the Hawkeyes movie. On film, he saw an undefeated team with the potential to lose. On Saturday, Iowa did just that.
