Los Angeles Youth Orchestra to perform during Super Bowl pregame – NBC Los Angeles
Super Bowl Sunday is not only guaranteed to be a great football experience, but the pre-game show featuring Grammy-nominated artists, the LA Phil Youth Orchestra and a “flyover One of a Kind” by the US Air Force will also be a show stopper.
The NFL has released a statement confirming that the Feb. 13 Super Bowl pre-game festivities will include performances by Jhené Aiko, Mary Mary, Zedd and a performance by the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles.
As the two teams warm up, multi-platinum, Grammy-winning artist/DJ/producer Zedd will take the lead as the official DJ.
Six-time Grammy-nominated singer Jhené Aiko will perform America the Beautiful, followed by American urban contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary accompanied by LA Phil’s YOLA in Lift Every Voice and Sing.
LA Phil said in a tweet that the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) attendees were looking forward to their next performance and looking forward to taking the stage with the gospel duo Mary Mary led by Thomas Wilkins under the musical direction of Derrick Hodge.
LA Phil’s YOLA provides young people ages five to 18 with intensive music education, opportunities to perform on stage both in communities and around the world, and free instruments.
YOLA has local and national programs that aimed to “opportunities for young musicians, teaching artists, program administrators and other stakeholders” to promote learning and community building.
Also on behalf of the National Association of the Deaf, renowned actress Sandra Mae Frank will perform the national anthem and America the Beautiful in American Sign Language.
During the national anthem, the US Air Force will perform a one-of-a-kind flyover over SoFi Stadium to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The Air Force Heritage Flight will be a formation consisting of a P-51 Mustang, an A-10C Thunderbolt II, an F-16 Fighting Falcon, an F-22 Raptor and an F-35A Lightning II.
