Harris and King earn All-ACC Academic Team Selections

GREENSBORO, North Carolina (theACC.com) – Pitt Junior Women’s Basketball Dayshanette Harris and second King Liatu have been named to the 2021-22 All-ACC Women’s Academic Basketball Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

The honor marks the third for Harris, who becomes the first Panther in the program’s history to achieve academic recognition three times in her career. Earning recognition for the first time in his career, King is the 11and Different Panther in the history of the program to be recognized for athletic and academic achievements.

Harris, a justice administration major with a 3.44 GPA, finished her junior campaign as the team‘s top scorer (9.6 points per game) while leading the team with 2.9 assists per game and grabbing 2.9 rebounds per game. The explosive guard also hit a career-high 34 percent from behind the arc and 75.6 percent from the free throw line in 27 games and 19 starts for the Panthers at point guard.

The Youngstown, OH native has scored in double figures 13 times while leading the Panthers in assists 15 times this year. Harris has 825 career points and is Pitt’s fastest player to 800 career points (69 games) since 2013, while the current assistant coach and former Panthers star Brianna Kiesel achieved the feat in his 57and career competition. She is also the fastest Panther in program history with at least 700 points, 250 rebounds and 175 assists, in 60 games.

King, an undeclared major with a 3.55 GAA, had a stellar second season for the Panthers as she was able to post career highs in nearly every statistical category. The Washington, DC native started 16 games as a forward and finished the season averaging 7.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 44.3% from the floor in 19. 8 minutes per game.

The aggressive rebounder finished eighth in the ACC in rebounds per game (7.1 rpg) while ranking third in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (2.9 orpg). She capped her impressive campaign by scoring in double figures in 11 games while grabbing career-high double-figure rebounds six times. King burst onto the scene at Paradise Jam for the Panthers as she posted a pair of double-doubles, including two straight games with a career-high 19 rebounds. She opened the tournament with 10 points and 19 rebounds against Texas A&M before posting a career-best game in the win over Northwestern, finishing with 23 points and 19 rebounds.


The minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average during one’s college career. Athletic accomplishments during the most recent season are also considered in All-ACC Academic Team selection.


The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all student-athletes in the conference with a 3.0 grade point average for the current academic year, will be released in July.
